ShoreTel/Mitel: 14.2 migration to Connect steps

There are a lot of things that go into migrating from ShoreTel 14.2 to Mitel Connect. Make sure you have read through the Mitel Migration guide and have talked to your Mitel partner or Mitel support before attempting this. The steps below are just a overview of my steps and are for migrating to Connect when the server is already running Server 2012 R2 or higher. There are a lot of things that can go wrong with this and you can loose all the database data if not done correctly. So please please please make sure to speak with someone who know what they are doing before attempting this.

  1.  Verify Connect server roles and features are installed
  2. Run Tac tools
  3. Run Compatibility checker
  4. Remove Communicator client from computers (Can cause issues with upgrade)
  5. Back up current system and save file to Flash drive
    1. Databases .sql files a. C:\Program Files (x86)\Shoreline Communications\Shoreware Server\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\Examples i. BackupCDR.bat -> Will output an .sql file to the root of C:
      1. BackupConfig.bat -> Will output an .sql file to the root of C:
      2. BackupWebridge.bat -> Will output an .sql file to the root of C:
        1. Only required if there is an SA-100/SA-400 in use.

      4. Copy the resulting .sql files folder to a safe location (Network Share, Thumb drive, etc...)
    2. Shoreline Data folder
      1. Stop all ST services from script at C:\Program Files (x86)\Shoreline Communications\ShoreWare Server\Scripts i. hq_shoretel-stop-svcs
      2. Copy the Vms, User Data, & Prompts folder from Shoreline Data, to a safe location (Network Share, Thumb drive, etc...)

  12. Install Connect software on Primary server
  13. Reboot Server
  14. Check install went well
    1. Log in to SWD
    2. Check users workgroups, hunt groups, ect
    3. Make sure everything is still working and accessible on the server
  15. Push upgrade to ShoreTel Appliances (SG switches and SA-100)
